BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta Bake
BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta Bake: ground beef, bacon, a delicious tangy BBQ sauce, pasta, and melted cheddar cheese. This is the best!
If you thought you liked my one-pot cheeseburger pasta, wait until you taste this delicious BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta.
It was a favourite among my family and they were quick to request that I make it again.
A cheeseburger is a staple in every family. It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t like it.
Simple homemade BBQ sauce
We use quite a bit of the bottled BBQ Barbecue Sauce. Bottled BBQ Barbecue Sauce is high in calories. I make my own barbecue sauce. It’s easy to achieve the delicious Smokey flavours with just a few ingredients from your pantry.
Crushed tomatoes (or passata).
Soy Sauce (a mixture of regular and dark) – You need to use the one that is actually labeled “Dark Soy Sauce”, otherwise you won’t get the deep color.
Maple Syrup is a sweetener that any barbecue sauce should have. I prefer to use natural ingredients.
Paprika: I use regular sweet paprika as well as smoked paprika. The smoked one adds a smokey flavor to the sauce.
Garlic Powder and Onion Granules – Both are fine.
Tomato Paste (Puree)
Lastly, some water.
It’s so easy!
Maple Syrup Replacements
Are you out of maple syrup? You don’t have to buy maple syrup for this recipe. Brown sugar or honey can also be used in the BBQ sauce.
Is it possible to substitute maple syrup for sweetener?
You can use sweetener if you don’t want to consume a lot of calories on honey or natural maple syrup.
Is it possible to omit the Maple Syrup?
Some people don’t like sweet food. I get it. However, Barbecue sauce generally has a smokey sweet flavor.
You can still give it a shot, even if it isn’t your thing. But for the authentic sweet smokey tanginess, it’s absolutely necessary.
Pickles/Gherkins in Cheeseburgers
Pickles and Gherkins can be a favourite or a hate. They are similar to marmite in some ways. They are a great addition to burgers. You can leave them out if you don’t like them.
Cheddar for Cheeseburgers
My BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger’s cheddar is low/reduced fat cheese. This either allows the recipe to being lower in syns and calories or allows you to use a little extra if using Healthy Extra A as the cheese.
Type of Bacon to make a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger
Smoked back bacon is used in this recipe along with extra lean ground mince (less than 5%). I also trim all visible fat. This makes it less calorific and syn-free than streaky bacon but retains the Smokey bacon flavour.
But if you do want to use streaky bacon, there’s no reason to. Just count it according to your needs.
Sides for BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta
A simple salad was my side dish for the pasta bake.
Shredded Crisp Lettuce
Serve with a simple, low-calorie or low-syn dressing
You could add vegetables to the pasta bake if you wanted to be healthier, but this BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta is not meant for vegetarians. You can serve the salad as a side dish instead.
You can also add diced vegetables to the pasta.
