- Completely Syn Free!
This recipe makes a perfect alternative to a takeaway favourite pair it with a nice salad and Slimming World chips to complete the meal. Best of all it’s completely syn free unless you want to use some syns on pitta bread and dipping sauces – We’ll add more options at the end of the recipe.
Unlike the Slimming World Doner Kebab recipe you don’t need to let the meat rest etc it is a straight forward mix and put in the oven…Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 Teaspoon Plain Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 1/2 Teaspoon Dried Italian Herbs
- 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Granules
- 1/2 Teaspoon Onion Granules
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 500g - 5% Beef Mince
Method
Step 1
Pre-heat the oven to 180c or equivalent
Step 2
Grab a large mixing bowl and put in all the ingredients apart from the mince - 1tsp plain flour, 1tsp dried oregano, 1/2tsp dried Italian herbs, 1/2tsp garlic granules, 1/2tsp onion granules, 1/2tsp cayenne pepper, 1tsp salt and 1/2tsp black pepper
Step 3
Next put all of the mince into the bowl and mix together for about 3-4 mins ensuring all the seasoning has been mixed in. This is the perfect opportunity to release some stress and get all the air pockets out of the meat by punching & kneading it until it is as smooth as can be.
Step 4
Now shape the kebab into a loaf and put it onto a baking tray.
Step 5
Place into the oven on the middle shelf and cook for around 1 hour turning once halfway through - Now would be a good time to make your Slimming World chips or wedges.
Step 6
Once the kebab has cooked take it out of the oven and cover with some foil and leave it for about 10mins
Step 7
Slice the doner kebab as thin as possible and serve.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve with a nice salad, slimming world chips and sauces of your choice.
(Be sure to check syns as some sauces can be quite high!)
Some pittas can count as your Healthy Extra B other it’s about 6-7 syns per pitta.
If you struggle to find the pittas available as your HeB and want to lower syns use only half a pitta for half the listed syns.
